Duty station for this position is Lehrte (GER).


The team Execution Area Central Automation Systems is accountable for the safe & reliable operation, technical quality, legal compliance and budgets of all automation systems (incl. automation control for integrated operation of auxiliary systems) of Offshore grid connection systems and Interconnectors allocated to Area Central, including the prioritization, scheduling, detailed engineering and execution of maintenance and project activities.*Management of Execution Area Central Automation Systems team, especially motivation, inspiring, coaching and development of employees

  • Member of the Grid Field Operations-Offshore-Execution Area Central (GFO-O-XC) Leadership Team and actively contributes to and co- owns Strategy developments and its implementation
  • Custodian for all automation systems, including automation control (integrated operation of auxiliary systems), control & protection systems and telcom systems, especially ensuring technical quality and legal compliance for all automation systems and equipment
  • Prioritization, scheduling, detailed engineering and execution of all preventive & corrective maintenance measures and projects (detailed engineering, tendering & execution) for all automation systems, based on maintenance engineering plans and project portfolio of Project & Maintenance Engineering department
  • Actively contribute to establishing a top class safety culture and an environment in which it is possible for everyone to go home safe every day. This requires the incumbent to develop his own safety leadership skills and that of staff in all layers of the department to establish a culture of care and trust in which people feel empowered and will achieve goal zero
  • Operation of all automation systems within safe operating windows, safe isolation of systems and equipment for maintenance/project activities and adherence of permit to work system
  • Implementation, implementation control and documentation of all operational requirements (technical and organizational) for automation systems, incl. legal for Offshore Operations


  • Academic working and thinking level and a relevant bachelor/master degree; advanced courses in technical management, Information Technology or Process Engineering and/or business administration
  • Profound leadership experiences, lead by example and well developed competencies which embody the leadership principles Ownership, Connection and Courage, act as a role model and create the right context for employees to show the desired mind-set and behavior in line with TenneT’s leadership profile (Connection, Ownership, Courage)
  • Multiple years of proven experience in managing teams in organisations, incl. matrix organisations and with a diversity of stakeholders and complex business cases
  • Preferable knowledge about German/Dutch energy regulation and European renewables market, especially offshore wind industry
  • Our preferred candidate demonstrates a high level of assertiveness, is well-organized, initiative taking with analytical thinking as well as hands-on mentality and being able to balance delivery and flexibility within the compliance framework
  • You convince with good communication skills and are able to adapt to a variety of audiences
  • Very good language skills in English and German are required
  • Optional: medical suitability for offshore operations according to the AWMF standard as well as the suitability for altitude can be examined by our company doctor
